New research on the impact of a dietitian in general practice 

Dr Lisa Waddell is lead community paediatric dietitian in Nottingham whose main focus over the last 21  years has been educating health visitors, GP’s and community staff on the management of nutritional problems in infants; colic, constipation and reflux with a special focus on early recognition and diagnosis of food allergy.

At The Paediatric Allergy Conference 2023, Lisa shared new research on the impact of a dietitian in general practice.

  • Recognise and understand the impact of cow’s milk allergy in primary care
  • Be aware of the NHS Plan to develop wider primary care/ community workforce
  • Learn about what led to the development of a dietetic-led food allergy service in the community in Nottingham
  • Learn about the resources developed to support the diagnosis of cow’s milk allergy within this service
  • Be able to describe the benefits of a dietetic led food allergy service in the community as illustrated in the BDA supported service evaluation comparison between two dietetic food allergy services in primary care across Nottinghamshire
