Ingredients

  • 200ml Fortisip PlantBased 2kcal Café Latte flavour
  • 2 tbsp gram flour
  • 2 tbsp ground almonds
  • 1 tbsp ground flax seed
  • 1 tsp cocoa powder
  • 2 slices of sourdough bread cut into ¾ inch thick slices
  • 25g vegan butter

To serve:

  • Chocolate spread or maple syrup and fresh berries

Method

  1. In a shallow bowl, mix the gram flour, ground almonds, cocoa and flax seed together. Whisk in the Fortisip and set to one side for 15 minutes to slightly thicken.
  2. In a frying pan over medium heat, melt the vegan butter. Dip the sliced sourdough bread into the Fortisip mixture allow to sit for a few minutes on each side to absorb the mixture.
  3. Place the slices of dipped bread into the hot butter and fry for 4 minutes each side until golden.
  4. Place onto a serving plate, drizzle with chocolate spread or maple syrup and fresh berries.

Chef's tips:

  • You can batch make the French toast, cool, wrap and freeze until needed. To re-heat place onto a lined baking sheet into a pre-heated oven 170°C for 10 minutes.
  • Add vanilla or almond extract to the mixture to change the flavour.
  • Alternatively, serve with sliced banana, pecans and maple syrup.
