This module provides a review of:
- Overview of general symptoms of GI complaints in infants
- Symptoms and diagnosis of functional GI disorders
- Guidelines and approaches in the management of functional GI disorders, including parental support and education
- Dietary management of functional GI disorders
After completing this module you will feel confident in diagnosing and managing common functional GI disorders such as reflux, colic and constipation in a primary care setting, as well as in providing parental education and reassurance during what can be a very distressing time for the family. You will also be familiar with the ‘red flag’ symptoms that may indicate a more serious GI disorder that should be referred to specialist care.
