Psychologist Dr Vanessa Bogle discusses practical skills to improve consultations with anxious parents during infant feeding related conversations.
The webinar will introduce you to practical skills to build upon your existing skillset to help improve communication during brief health consultations with anxious parents related to infant feeding. You will be introduced to Motivational Interviewing (MI), an evidence-based approach to facilitating behaviour change. This will include the key principles of MI, the use of a ‘guiding style’ of communication, good listening skills, the importance of empathy and how to express it, ways to increase motivation and strategies for sharing information.
Dr Bogle is a Health Psychologist and a Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapist. She has a special interest in healthcare communication, motivation and behaviour change. She is a Motivational Interviewing trainer and a member of the International Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT). She regularly designs and delivers behaviour change training programmes to a variety of professionals, including those working in healthcare, social care, the criminal justice system, employment and the leisure industry, she also facilitates training in the area of mental health. Alongside her work in the area of training, Dr Bogle works in private practice, providing psychological therapy. She specialises in the treatment of eating disorders and disordered eating.
